WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 70-68, 28-38 4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 4-2 at Carolina. The Mudcats swept West Tennessee out of the first round of the playoffs. The Diamond Jaxx scored twice on an error in the top of the first inning, but Carolina scored four times in the bottom of the second inning. Greg Halman ('07) had three of West Tennessee's eight hits.

SEATTLE (MAJ: 55-85 4th American League West): The Mariners beat the Yankees 3-1. Brandon Morrow took a no-hitter through 7-2/3 innings before allowing an RBI double to Wilson Betemit. Justin Thomas ('06) got the final out of the eighth inning and JJ Putz ('00) pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. Matt Tuiasosopo ('05) got the start at third base, went 1-for-4, and picked up his first major league hit.

Light night in the system last night.
SEATTLE (MAJ: 54-85 4th American League West): The Mariners were off on Thursday.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 70-68, 28-38 4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 11-2 to Carolina in Game Two of the North Division Southern League Playoffs. Mike Wilson ('05) drove in both runs for West Tennessee and did that in the first inning. But, the Mudcats scored four runs in the first inning and eventually put the game away with five runs in the top of the ninth off Shawn Kelley ('08). Anthony Varvaro ('07) made his Double-A debut by getting the final out of the ninth.
The Diamond Jaxx trail their best-of-five series 0-2. The teams are off today and resume the series on Saturday night in Zebulon, North Carolina.
