Mariner System Report (Games of 4/21)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 5-7; 3rd AL West): The Mariners lost 8-4 to the Angels. The loss was their fourth straight. Seattle was down 8-0 before scoring twice in the eighth and twice in the ninth. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez had an RBI for the Mariners.

TACOMA (AAA: 7-9; T-2nd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 5-1 to Fresno. The Rainiers took a 1-0 lead as Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) drove in a run in the bottom of the second. Jason Mackintosh (WI ’04) made his Triple-A debut for Tacoma and pitched five scoreless innings. Mackintosh gave up two hits, walked one, and struck out four. But, the Rainier bullpen could not hold the lead as the Grizzlies scored four times off Ryan Rowland-Smith (WI ’03) in the top of the sixth.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 6-9; T-3rd Southern League North Division): West Tennessee rallied to beat Mississippi 7-5. The Diamond Jaxx trailed 5-2 heading to the bottom of the eighth and scored five times to take the lead and go on to the win. Matt Tuiasosopo (WI ’05) started the game winning rally with an RBI triple. Later in the inning, a two run single by Sebastien Boucher (WI ’05) gave the Jaxx the lead. Craig James (WI ’05) pitched a scoreless ninth to for his third save.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 5-10; 4th California League South Division): High Desert beat Lake Elsinore 3-2 in ten innings. The Mavericks tied the game 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the seventh on an error. The Storm scored a run in the top of the tenth, but the Mavs rallied in the bottom of the tenth after manager Scott Steinman was ejected for arguing a strike three called on Jeff Dominguez. Travis Scott (WI ’06) hit a two-out, two-run single to drive in the tying and winning runs.
