Mariner System Report (Games of 4/20)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 5-6; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 6-5 to the Twins. The M’s had a 2-1 lead, but Minnesota scored five times in the top of the eighth inning. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez had four RBI for Seattle. He hit a three run homer in the bottom of the ninth to bring the M’s to within 6-5, but Minnesota held on for the win.

TACOMA (AAA: 7-8; 2nd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Fresno 4-1. Jim Parque pitched seven innings and allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts for the win. The only run for Fresno was a home run by Justin Leone (WI ’00). The Rainiers scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 5-9; 4th Southern League North Division): West Tennessee lost 12-2 to Mississippi. They led 2-0 heading into the top of the sixth inning. The Braves scored five times in the sixth, four times in the seventh, and three times in the eighth to beat the Diamond Jaxx. Rene Rivera (WI ’03) drove in one of the runs for West Tennessee.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 4-10; T-4th California League South Division): High Desert lost 3-2 at Inland Empire. The Mavericks scored two runs in the top of the first inning on a Reed Eastley double. Jon Lockwood (WI ’05) gave up a pair of runs in the second inning. Jose Escalona (WI ’06) took the loss when he allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth.
