SEATTLE (MAJ: 4-3; 1st AL West): The Mariners beat the Rangers 8-3. Adrian Beltre was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the offense. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez had an RBI for the M’s. Miguel Batista got the win as Seattle moved into first place in the AL West.
TACOMA (AAA: 3-7; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 9-8 to Sacramento. Tacoma built and early 8-2 lead, but the River Cats scored four in the sixth and three in the seventh to erase that lead. Bryan LaHair (WI ’04) went 4-for-5 with a homer and two RBI for the Tacoma offense.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 4-6; 3rd Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 2-1 at Jacksonville. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) put West Tennessee in front with an RBI in the sixth inning. Joe Woerman (WI ’06) gave up one hit in six shutout innings, but got a no decision. Mumba Rivera (WI ’05) gave up a pair of solo homers in the bottom of the eighth and the Suns won despite only having three hits in the game.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 3-7; 4th California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Lake Elsinore 6-2. Jesus Guzman drove in three runs for the Mavericks as they won their second game in a row. Aaron Cotter was the winning pitcher.
