When the armor is gone, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers' bullpen catcher is just a kid.
"I guess I could say I'm living my dream through the bullpen gig," Matt Andrews said Monday after the Timber Rattlers' 4-3 victory over the Great Lakes Loons at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
"Growing up playing Little League, Babe Ruth, high school and college baseball. To say that you participated in professional baseball is pretty neat."
After working on the grounds crew since 2003, "Pudge" got a call from head groundskeeper Eddie Warczak about becoming a bullpen backstop last May and he has been doing it ever since.
The relievers welcomed him immediately by tying his shoelaces together.
