Just like the '97 Mariners The '82 Brewers were also completing a series in Cleveland on April 15. Unlike the '97 Mariners, the '82 Crew were playing at Municipal Stadium and left town with a loss. The Indians beat the Brewers 8-1 behind the pitching of Bert Blyleven and the hitting Bake McBride and Rick Manning.
Milwaukee was never in this game as Cleveland scored three times in the bottom of the first and two more times in the bottom of the third off Mike Caldwell.
McBride drove in two with a bases loaded single in the first inning. Manning singled later in the fram to knock in Mike Hargrove.
In the third, Caldwell threw a wild pitch that allowed two runs to score. How wild? McBride scored from third and catcher Chris Bando scored from second.
Caldwell got the hook with one out in the bottom of the fourth after a walk to Jerry Dybzinski and a Toby Harrah single. Jerry Augustine entered the game and allowed Dybzinski to score on a grounder by Hargrove.
Still no Robin Yount in the lineup for the Brewers as he missed hi second game in a row. Don Money drove in the only Milwaukee run with a two out single in the top of the fifth.
Blyleven struck out seven over seven innings for the win. Ed Whitson pitched two scoreless innings to finish off the Crew.
