The '82 Brewers were trying to snap a three game losing streak as they hosted the Rangers on April 17. However, there was still no Robin Yount in the starting lineup. He did make a late pinch hitting appearance, but the Crew lost their fourth straight as Texas beat them 5-3.
The Rangers scored a run off Bob McClure in the second inning when Jim Sundberg appeared to have knocked in a run with a double. But, Sundberg missed first base and was out on appeal.
Milwaukee tied the game in the bottom of the third on a Larry Hisle home run. Then, the Brewers took a lead in the bottom of the fourth. Gorman Thomas scored from first on a Ben Oglivie double.
But, the Rangers went back in front in the sixth on a two-run homer by former Appleton Fox Lamar Johnson. Dwight Bernard replaced McClure after the homer and kept the Brewers close until the ninth.
Texas plated two runs after there were two out and nobody on base. George Wright tripled in a run. He scored on a bunt single by Lee Mazzilli and Texas had a 5-2 lead heading to the bottom of the ninth.
The Brewers tried to rally in the bottom of the ninth. Thomas singled, Oglivie walked, and Mark Brouhard singled to load the bases with no outs. That was when Yount pinch hit for Eddie Romero. But, Steve Comer, who had replaced Texas starter Frank Tanana in the sixth inning got Robin to ground into a 4-6-3 double play. Thomas scored on the play, the Brewers trailed 5-3, and the tying run was coming to the plate, but there were two outs.
The tying run came to the plate in the form of Don Money, who was pinch hitting for Jim Ganter. Money lined out to third to end the game and the Brewers record fell to 3-5 as they ended the day 1-1/2 games behind Cleveland and Detroit in the AL East.

The '82 Brewers will try to stop their losing streak when they face the Rangers again on April 18 at County Stadium. Pete Vuckovich against Rick Honeycutt is the matchup.
And, despite the pinch hitting role on 4/17, Yount is still not going to be in the starting lineup tomorrow.
