The '97 Mariners returned home to face the Minnesota Twins. The homecoming was not a good one as the Twins scored five times in the fifth and four times in the sixth for a 10-3 victory over Seattle.
Scott Sanders gave up six runs on seven hits over 4-2/3 innings to take the loss.
Minnesota scored once in the the first inning and Seattle tied the game in the bottom of the first.
Rich Becker blasted a two run homer for a 3-1 lead. Roberto Kelly made it 6-1 with a three run double later in the inning.
Seattle was down 10-1 heading to the bottom of the 7th when Jay Buhner and Paul Sorrento hit back-to-back homers. That was all for the scoring.
The '97 M's are 10-6 and still in first place in the AL West. Their lead is 1.5 games Texas.

Game two of the series against the Twins is April 19. Dennis Martinez gets the start for the M's. Bob Tewksbury has the starting assignment for Minnesota.
