They were memorable

There has been a lot of talk about entrance music and baseball since the Brewers signed Trevor Hoffman. And why not? His Hells Bells entrance is one of the best ever.

In fact , it's second only to Frank Charles playing Rockin' Robin on the organ at County Stadium before Robin Yount stepped up to the plate.

In this post over at the Daily Drink, I admitted that Behind Blue Eyes by The Who would be my entrance music. Yes, it's mellow. But, it's all in the lyrics.

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

Yeah. I could close a game after that.

Anyway, here are some of the more memorable entrance/walk up songs I've heard over the years in the Midwest League.

Chris Snelling ('00) had Dragula by Rob Zombie.

TJ Bohn ('03) had Dirty by Christina Aguileria.

Michael Kesten ('02) had the SpongeBob SquarePants Theme.

Juan Done ('02) had Down with the Sickness by Disturbed.

There was a player with Beloit when they were a Brewer affiliate who used The Dukes of Hazzard Theme.

But, the all-time best walk up song belonged to another ex-Snapper who was a Brewer farmhand. Jeff Eure had this as his:

No doubt (regarding Hells Bells).

Right up there with Metallica's "Sandman" for Rivera.

And speaking of Metallica, for the one summer he was on, "Fuel" was pretty darn good for Turnbow.

A couple memorable ones (good and bad) come to mind immediately.

2006, weekday 1:00 first pitch at Miller Park. I think it was June. Corey Koskie is walking to the plate to Rush's "Limelight."

I laugh (hardy laugh of approval) out loud and start jam'n (as much as one can jam for all of 30 seconds). I'm fairly certain i was the only one that put Koskie, Rush and Canada together.

2007, (back then just) Fox Cities Stadium. Andy Hargrove. Not that there's anything wrong with Bon Jovi, but i found it odd that for his time here he had "Livin On A Prayer" as his entry music.

"Bad Medicine", "Dead Or Alive" or "You Give Love A Bad Name" sure, but "Livin On A Prayer" would not seem to invoke any good karma when trying to hit a round ball come at you 80+ miles an hour with a curved piece of wood.

Then during an extra inning affair (I think it went like 14?) in late spring/early summer, i was standing on the first base concourse out of the rain and one of the staffers was talking to Andy's wife as he came to the plate and i overhear it's her favorite song. That's great and all but...

While you're right Chris in that "Behind Blue Eyes" is a bit mellow, the lyrics say what they need to say.

While there are more lyrically inspiring Y&T songs, i'd have to go with an appropriate hard hitter, that still brings lyrics suitable for an at bat...

"Hurricane" off the 1981 Earthshaker LP...

Cold chill down your back
You feel the power about to attack
The wicked sky, it screams with pain
You hear it’s warning and it drives you insane
Gonna drive you insane

CHORUS:
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you
Well, it’s a hurricane, yeah
And it’s coming down on you, you, you, you
