The '82 Brewers had their home opener on April 16. They Texas Rangers were the opponents. Still no Robin Yount in the lineup for the Brewers and the offense struggled for the second game in a row as they fell 4-1 in ten innings.
One of Paul Molitor's nicknames was "The Ignitor" and he ignited a Brewer rally in the bottom of the fourth. He singled, went to third on a grounder off the bat of Charlie Moore, and scored on a groundout by Cecil Cooper.
Moose Haas was the starting pitcher for the Brewers and he pitched well on this day, but he gave up a two-out RBI double to Mark Wagner in the top of the fifth and the game was tied. It stayed tied as the Brewer bats managed just four hits in the game and the Rangers couldn't cash in on several opportunities.
Until the top of the tenth. Rollie Fingers had replaced Haas in the top of the ninth and worked through a minor jam in that inning, but the future hall of famer got into trouble in the top of the tenth. Mike Richardt and Wagner singled to start the inning. Pinch hitter Bill Stein doubled in both runners. Later in the inning, Lee Mazzilli singled in Stein for a 4-1 Ranger lead.

The loss was the third in a row for the '82 Brewers. They fell to 3-4 and were 1/2 game out of first in the AL East.
They will try to snap that streak on April 17 with Bob McClure on the hill. Frank Tanana (he was a Ranger?) gets the start for Texas.
