Of note today...

Just passing along a tidbit from this morning. Phillippe Aumont finished up a simulated game about 45 minutes ago.

From the very few pitches I had a chance to see, he looked good. Sorry, I do have a few other duties that keep me busy before the game.

Early reports are that it went well. I have not had time to talk to Phillippe or pitching coach Jaime Navarro, but if there is a chance, I'll have a new post later tonight or some time tomorrow.

Just curious...when a minor league player goes on the DL (I suppose it may be different with someone such as Aumont's stature though, and the money invested in him), who makes the determination of when he is ready to come off it? Is it strictly up to the team trainer and player? Or are injured players all required to see some sort of Seattle's team doctor?

The decision is an organizational decision. Input from training staff, the team doctor in Appleton, the coaching staff, and the player development staff in Seattle all goes into making the decision.
