Foxes are now 11-5. They are in 2nd place, 3.5 games behind Madison.

The winning rally in the 11th went like this:
  • Mike Taylor single
  • Darrell Pruitt sacrifice bunt, reaches on error by Bill Mendek, Taylor to 2nd
  • Jerry Bertolonai bunt single, Taylor to 3rd, Pruitt to second
  • Jim Winters sacrifice fly to center, Taylor scores
Troy Thomas hit a two run homer in the bottom of the fourth for the Foxes. But, he committed an error in the top of the eighth that allowed the Timbers to tie the game.

This spoiled a good outing for starting pitcher Tony Mendez. He allowed two hits over 7-1/3 innings with three strikeouts. Six walks kept it from being a great start. Two unearned runs in the 8th kept it from being a win.

But, the Foxes found a way - as they normally did in the 80's.

Next up for the 1960 Foxes is a doubleheader in Cedar Rapids...weather permitting.
Next up for the 1985 Foxes is a showdown with first place Madison at Warner park.
