Congratulations Sixers (UPDATED)

From sbsun.com

Complete Championship Notebook is HERE. The notes include

SAN BERNARDINO - The 66ers are three years removed from winning their last California League championship and there are few ties between the 2003 and '06 teams. One connection is pitching coach Scott Budner, who was the pitching coach in 2003 as well.

"The teams are kind of similar in that they took the big horses halfway through the year both times," Budner said earlier in the series. "We had some scrappy players come in and really stepped up to get us to where we are."
...

Budner now lives in Colton in the off-season and has spent four of the last five years as the pitching coach in San Bernardino, so he's one of the many interested parties in the off-season affiliation movement. The Dodgers are interested in getting a team back in the California League and the Sixers are interested in getting the Dodgers back. So if that switch happens, the Mariners would be searching for a new Cal League affiliate, likely either in Visalia, Lancaster or High Desert.
...

When the Sixers returned to Arrowhead Credit Union Park in the Championship Series, they were greeted with some familiar faces. Former teammates Mark Lowe, Julio Santiago and Brian Schweiger were all seen at the park for at least one of the games.

UPDATE:

Brent Johnson (WI '05) won the Cal League Championship Series MVP

The complete milb.com story is HERE.

The important Brent Johnson part is:

The Oaks tied it in the sixth on John Jaso's sacrifice fly. With runners on second and third and one out, the Nuts had a chance to take the lead later in the inning, but Josh Arhart fouled out and center fielder Brent Johnson made a diving catch in shallow center to rob Josh Asanovich of a potential go-ahead hit.

"[The catch] was obviously a big play," said Johnson, who was named Championship Series MVP after hitting .429 with six RBIs.

"I had a good read on it, and it had a lot of backspin too. I knew I had to lay out for it, but I'm glad I was able to run it down. That definitely was the turning point.

"Just after yesterday's game, I talked with some of my teammates and we knew we could pull this out because last year, a lot of us were [with Wisconsin] in the Midwest League and we were down 0-2 and came back to force a Game 5, so there was little doubt we could pull this off."
