A little wrap-up [Edited]

Jeff Johnson of the Cedar Rapids Gazette had this the other day about Iowa baseball teams and the floods.

After going through the problems faced by the Kernels there is this on Quad Cities and Burlington:
In Davenport, Modern Woodmen Park is surrounded by floodwater from the bordering Mississippi River. The Quad Cities River Bandits have lost two home games to flooding, including their final game of the first half.
The stadium is fine, thanks to berms built along the outfield when the park was remodeled in 2004. It's the parking lots around the stadium that have continually flooded. The club has been boarding its bus for trips to Cedar Rapids at a Davenport hotel instead of the stadium. The River Bandits' gear was stored away from the ballpark during last week's Midwest League all-star break as a precaution.

"Our problems are pretty minuscule compared to what others have gone through, but we'll deal with whatever comes our way," River Bandits Manager Steve Dillard told the Quad City Times. "The only thing we can control is what we do on the field. Our guys have done a good job with that so far this season."

Downtown Burlington has been hit particularly hard by Mississippi River flooding, though Community Field, home of the MWL's Burlington Bees, is far enough away from the river. The only potential problem for the club is that the Iowa-Illinois bridge that goes over the Mississippi has been closed by flooding.

That could cause some travel issues for the Peoria Chiefs, who play this week at Burlington. A 90-minute bus ride could turn into three or four hours.
I just received a text message from Nathan Baliva, the radio voice of the Chiefs. The Peoria team bus arrived at *Community Field around 4:40pm after leaving Peoria at 1:30pm.

* I had this (stupidly) as Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport. It has been corrected.
