Mariner System Report (Games of 5/14)

Seattle (MAJ: 17-22; 3rd AL West): The Mariners beat the Angels 9-4. Gil Meche (WI ’98) gave up four runs and struck out five in 5-1/3 innings for the win. Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) got the save with 3-2/3 innings of one-hit shutout relief in his major league debut. The offense had four home runs, including one by former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez.

Tacoma (AAA – 19-16; 3rd PCL Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 3-0 at home to Albuquerque. Michael Garciaparra (WI ’03) had a hit in two trips to the plate in his Triple-A debut.

San Antonio (AA – 13-20; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions won their second straight with a 5-4 victory over Frisco. Ryan Feierabend (WI ’04) gave up four runs (three earned) on ten hits over 5-1/3 innings for his first Texas League win. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) hit a home run and drove in two runs.

Inland Empire (High-A – 21-15; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire held off Stockton 10-9. The 66ers held a 9-3 lead. before the Ports made their late charge. Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) had a pair of RBI. Mike Wilson (WI ’05) and Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) each had a pair of hits. Ivan Blanco (WI ’05) got the win.
