Mariner System Report (Games of 5/28)

Seattle (MAJ: 22-30; T-3rd AL West): The Mariners lost 4-3 in ten innings at Minnesota. Lew Ford homered off Eddie Guardado to lead off the bottom of the tenth for the win. Joel Pineiro (WI ’98) gave up three runs on nine hits over 6-2/3 innings for a no decision. Rafael Soriano (WI ’00) pitched 1-2/3 innings allowing no runs and striking out three.

Tacoma (AAA – 24-24; 3rd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 6-4 to Colorado Springs. Clint Nageotte (WI ’01) gave up six hits, struck out six, and gave up four runs for the loss. Michael Garciaparra (WI ’03) drove in a pair of runs for the Rainiers. The Rainiers trailed 6-0 in the fifth inning.

San Antonio (AA – 18-29; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions lost 5-3 to Wichita. It was the second day in a row San Antonio lost by a 5-3 score to the Wranglers. Jason Mackintosh (WI ’04) got a no decision for the Missions. He allowed three runs on five hits over 6-2/3 innings. San Antonio tied the game 3-3 with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Stephen Kahn (WI ’05) made his Double-A debut and gave up a two-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to take the loss.

Inland Empire (High-A – 31-19; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire won their ninth straight game with a 12-2 victory at High Desert. The 66ers hit four home runs and Robert Rohrbaugh (WI ’05) gave up one run over seven innings with no walks and five strikeouts. Mike Wilson (WI ’05), Omar Falcon (WI ’05), Chris Colton (WI ’05), and Reed Eastley hit the homers. Colton was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI for Inland Empire.
