Mariners System Report (Games of 5/20)

Seattle (MAJ: 19-25; 4th AL West): The Mariners beat San Diego 6-3. Gil Meche (WI ’98) pitched 7-2/3 innings allowing just three runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out seven. JJ Putz (WI ’00) came on in the ninth for his fifth save of the season.

Tacoma (AAA – 20-20; 3rd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 7-4 at Nashville. Bobby Livingston (WI ’03) gave up four runs on eight hits and took the loss. Greg Dobbs (WI ’02) was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for Tacoma.

San Antonio (AA – 15-24; 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio beat Corpus Christi 6-5 in fourteen innings. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) had a pair of home runs and drove in five runs for the Missions. Balentien’s second home run was a game-winning, two-run blast in the bottom of the fourteenth. Brandon Moorhead (WI ’04) gave up two runs on four hits for a no decision. Craig James (WI ’05) pitched three scoreless innings to keep the game going.

Inland Empire (High-A – 23-19; T-2nd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Rancho Cucamonga 4-2. Shawn Nottingham (WI ’05) got the win by striking out six and giving up two runs on five hits. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the 66ers.
