Report on Valbuena

Luis Valbuena ('06) is the focus of this week's M's Farm Report by Jason Churchill in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Here's the plus and the kinda/sorta minus view on the former Rattler second baseman. Which is which?
"He's got a nice, fairly compact swing," a scout for an NL team said. "He generates good bat speed, kind of like a Rafael Furcal or Jose Reyes, though he will strike out a little. But he's got some pop, too."

"I'm still not sure if he's got big league ability at the plate," another NL scout said. "I've caught him six or eight times this year, and he's definitely a better, more confident hitter than a year ago, but all my reports have him as a fringe bat right now. But that could change.
Go read the whole thing.
