From the story in ths morning's News-Tribune.On Thursday, Mackintosh was preparing to throw a bullpen side session for Double-A West Tennessee. Twenty-four hours later, a weary, semi-jet-lagged Mackintosh started for the Rainiers in the final game of their homestand as the replacement for Cha Seung Baek, who was scratched from his scheduled start at the last minute on orders from the Mariners.
While the level of secrecy surrounding the possibility of Baek taking Hernandez’s spot in the rotation was palpable, Mackintosh quietly stepped in and gave the Rainiers a quality start and a chance for a win.
