Braves: April 30, 1957

The '57 Braves went into the Polo Grounds to take on the New York Giants on April 30. They were shutout by Johnny Antonelli. The Giant starter struck out nine and drove in a pair of runs in the game.

Milwaukee starting pitcher Bob Buhl gave up a two-out single to Red Schoendienst in the fourth inning. Dusty Rhodes homered. 2-0 Giants. You know, this Schoendienst guy would look good in a Brave uniform at some point this season.

Antonelli hit a two-run homer off Ray Crone in the seventh. He allowed seven hits and kept the Braves scoreless for the first time in the '57 season.

Complete play-by-play and box score are HERE.

The Braves loss dropped them to 9-2. They are one game up on Brooklyn in the National League race. The series continues on May 1 at the Polo Grounds.
