Mariners: April 29, 1997

The '97 Mariners rallied and then held on for a 7-5 win over the Yankees in New York on April 29. Russ Davis played a big part in the game.

New York had a 2-0 lead on a pair of runs off Jamie Moyer in the bottom of the fourth. Seattle got to within 2-1 in the fifth on an RBI single by Russ Davis. Then, Davis tied the game with a sac fly in the seventh.

Seattle plated five runs in the top of the eighth. Rich Amaral singled in the first two runs. Davis singled in the next two. Jeff Blowers knocked in the final run with a sac fly for a 7-2 lead.

There were two on with two out in the bottom of the ninth when Norm Charlton came into the game. Bernie Williams doubled in a both inherited runners and Tino Martinez singled in Williams. Norm got Paul O'Neill to ground out to end the game.

The Mariners were 16-10 after the win. They remain in first place 1-1/2 games in front of the Rangers.

Final game of the series at Yankee Stadium is April 30.
