Brewers: April 30, 1982

The '82 Brewers played their first ever game in the Metrodome on April 30. It did not go well. They lost 7-4, but the game was never in doubt.

Minnesota scored three times in the first inning off Moose Haas. The first two runs scored on a Kent Hrbek triple...A Kent. Hrbek. Triple. He scored on a sac fly. Gary Gaetti homered to start the second for the Twins and it was 4-0.

Ted Simmons scored on this play in the Brewer half of the 5th:
Simmons reached on an error by Hrbek [Simmons scored (error by Wynegar) (unearned) (noRBI)]

Simmons chugging around the bases on a little league home run must have been a sight to remember.

Minnesota scored three times in the seventh, with a two run homer by Ron Washington off Dwight Bernard the highlight.

The Crew scored three times in their half of the eighth off Roger Erickson and Ron Davis. An RBI single by Jim Gantner and a two-run double by Robin Yount accounted for the runs and that's how the game ended.

Complete box score and play-by-play are HERE.

The '82 Brewers are now 9-8. They are in third place and trail Boston by 2-1/2 games.

Game two of the series with the Twins is on May 1.
