April 21 Game in a Word (or letter in this case)

V is for Valbuena.

The Rattler second baseman had three RBI and a run scored to account for four of the runs in the Rattlers 6-3 win. It shouldn't have been that close. But, a couple of calls didn't go the way they probably should have. The less said about the calls the better. However, one thing that I missed and apparently everyone on the team missed, was Jim Horner getting tossed from the game.

Jose Escalona made it through five (or V) innings and gave up one run for his second win.

The big story here in South Bend was the professional debut of Justin Upton. The Diamondbacks used the number one overall pick to select Upton last June. He went 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts, including one K with runners at 1st and 3rd with one out in the bottom of the ninth and he was the tying run.

Edgar Guaramato finished off the game with another strikeout and the Rattlers have a three game winning streak.
