Mariner System Report (Games of 4/24)

Seattle (MAJ: 8-13; 4th AL West): Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez had three hits, including a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the Mariners in front of the White Sox 3-2. But, Eddie Guardado gave up a game-tying homer in the top of the ninth. Yuniesky Betancourt came through with the game winning hit in the bottom of the eleventh inning in the 4-3 win for the M’s. Julio Mateo (WI ’00) got the win by pitching a scoreless top of the eleventh.

Tacoma (AAA – 10-7; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Cesar Jimenez (WI ’03) made his Triple-A debut for the Rainiers and got knocked around in Tacoma’s 10-8 loss to Fresno. Jimenez allowed seven runs on four hits and five walks over 4-2/3 innings. Hunter Brown (WI ’02) and Shin-soo Choo (WI ’02) both homered for the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 6-11; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions snapped their nine-game losing streak with a 7-5 win at Midland. Jason Mackintosh (WI ’04) got the emergency start in place of Jimenez and gave up ten hits and four runs over three innings. Chad Fillinger (WI ’05) pitched three scoreless innings in relief and got the win. Jeff Clement (WI ’05) homered and Michael Garciaparra (WI ’03) had a two-run triple during a three-run sixth inning to help the Missions take the lead.

Inland Empire (High-A – 9-8; T-3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire was off yesterday.
