Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Rattlers have fared on April 21…since 2000

2000: The Rattlers won 4-3 at Quad City. I was not at this game due to the Green Bay Gamblers being in the playoffs.

2001: Burlington beat the Rattlers 7-6 at Fox Cities Stadium. Chad Santos had five RBI in the game. Wisconsin led 4-3 heading into the top of the seventh. Santos stepped up with the bases loaded and two out. He doubled in all three runs against John Butler. A single and an error allowed Santos to score. That put Burlington up 7-4. Wisconsin scored twice in the eighth on an RBI triple by Joe Dusan and an RBI grounder by Guillermo “Bill” Martinez, but Jason Fingers, son of Rollie, got the final five outs for the save.

2002: Cedar Rapids beat the Rattlers 9-4 at Fox Cities Stadium in a game shortened by snow. The game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cedar Rapids scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 4-3 deficit. Jason Rainey ducked out of the batter’s box when he lost sight of a breaking ball in a flurry of snowflakes. Oh, yes. It snowed this late in the season in 2002.

2003: Cedar Rapids beat the Rattlers 10-3. Juan Sandoval allowed eight runs on eleven hits over four innings. The Kernels scored two in the first and five more in the second. The Rattlers record fell to 5-11 after this loss.

2004: The Rattlers shutout the Burlington Bees 5-0. Brandon Moorhead struck out nine over 7.1IP. Chris Colton had three hits and scored two runs. Josh Womack drove in a pair of runs

2005: The Rattlers won the completion of the suspended game from April 19 6-5 over Burlington. The Bees won the regularly scheduled game 4-2 at Fox Cities Stadium.

SUSPENDED GAME: Jack Arroyo hit the first pitch of the restart for a home run to give the Rattlers a 3-2 lead. The Rattlers had a 5-4 lead when Burlington committed three errors in the fourth inning to allow an important insurance run score. Casey Abrams got the win in relief and Eric O’Flaherty pitched around two hits in the top of the ninth for the win.

REGULAR GAME: Two Rattler errors in the fourth inning let the Bees score twice to take a 3-2 lead. They got a run in the top of the seventh for their insurance run.

2006: Wisconsin won 6-3 at South Bend. Robby Hudson had three hits and an RBI. Jose Escalona allowed one run on three hits in five innings for the win.

2007: Wisconsin lost 4-3 at West Michigan. Carlos Triunfel gave the Rattlers a 3-1 lead with an RBI single in the top of the seventh. But, the Whitecaps scored a run in the bottom of the eighth and two in the bottom of the ninth. Natividad Dilone got out of a jam in the eighth, but allowed both runs in the ninth.

Rattlers 4-5 on April 21. An eh, kind of day in Rattler history...since 2000.
