Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Rattlers have fared on April 24…since 2000

2000: The Rattlers lost 8-0 to Peoria. I was not at this game due to the Green Bay Gamblers being in the playoffs.

2001: The talk from the night before helped. Wisconsin won 4-1 at Kane County. Miguel Vilillo and Dan Floyd had RBI singles to make the score 2-0. The Cougars scored a run in the bottom of the seventh off Tim Burton. Joe Dusan’s two-out, RBI single in the top of the eighth and another RBI single by Floyd in the ninth accounted for the final score. Clint Nageotte pitched five scoreless innings and struck out five for the win.

2002: The game with Clinton at Fox Cities Stadium was rained out.

2003: The Rattlers beat South Bend 3-2 in thirteen innings. This was the second game in a row to go thirteen innings for the Rattlers. South Bend took a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth on an RBI double by Nilson Teilon. The Rattlers tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on a Jon Nelson RBI single. Dustin Delucchi won the game with a single in the thirteenth. Ryan Rowland-Smith got the win with four innings of scoreless relief work.

2004: The Rattlers lost 6-3 at Beloit. Wisconsin had a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. But, after the stretch, Beloit scored four runs off Brandon Perry. A two-run double by Vinny Rottino capped the rally. Dana Eveland pitched the final four innings for the win.

2005: The Rattlers won 5-4 over the Snappers at Fox Cities Stadium. Yung Chi Chen drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to drive in the winning run. Steve Grasley pitched three scoreless innings for the win.

2006: The Rattlers beat South Bend 8-4 at the Cove. The thing to remember most from this game was what happened in the ninth inning. Wisconsin was up 8-3 with one out when Robby Hudson reached on an error. He was not being held on first and took off for second base. South Bend did not like this. The next pitch was into the ribs of Jeffrey Dominguez. Benches cleared. Words were exchanged. South Bend scored one time in the bottom of the ninth and had two runners on base before the game finally ended on a strikeout.

2007: The Rattlers lost 6-3 at West Michigan. Greg Halman homered for the Rattlers and the game was tied 3-3 at one point. But, the Caps scored two runs in the fifth and added one in the eighth. Ricky Orta started the game, but had to leave after developing a blister on his pitching hand in the second inning. An already taxed Rattler bullpen put up a fight, but in the end West Michigan had too much.

A 4-3 record on April 24 makes today a slight OK kinda day
